Join us for a celebration of life!

Kaihea is a fusion belly dancer and fire performer in the Washington D.C. area who has been battling a serious illness for several years. For the first time ever at the Palace of Wonders, the fire and belly dance communities are coming together on stage to show their support and help raise funds for her medical bills. The show will acts by performers from near and far, and is well worth the cost of admission, even if it weren't for such a great cause. Join us for a wonderful evening of dance, fire, music, and celebration of life.

Performances by Alazka, Alexis, Asharah, Belladonna, Bronwen, Cari, Eugenia, Hilary, Ignytor, Loup de Loup, Malibu, Mavi, Na'la, Samira, Sera, and Silver Raven.

Wednesday, March 26th, 9:00pm

  • Yikes, we waited to long for tickets and it's now sold out :(.

If anyone has two tickets, let me know - nondivulger51@aol.com
    • Wait a minute Elise- you guys are taking pictures, aren't you???? We need you there!
      • We absolutely would love to be there and had planned on it...are there any reserve tickets?
        • Without getting all muckity-muckable and squishy-wishy, it was real nice to see Kaihea getting better and all the folks who took busy times out of their scheds to show up and make their presence felt last night. Many times, there has been conversation about how ''strong'' the local bd communtiy is here, and it's not just related to tribal. If it was any nite than WED, I'm sure TONS of others would have shown up to the point the Palace would have spilled out onto H Street (and the dude in the bunny suit may still be wearing it right now as we speak...)

Modern bellydance, tribal and fusion, bollywood and tons of fire dancing was well represented, and some spoken word and a song or two thrown into the mix. I'll avoid making any standouts, because in some form they ALL were. But the biggest performance of the night was hearing K speak and letting all know she's going to be around for us to enjoy (and apparently her admiration for Purple Melodias, per Mavi's darling poem) for a very long time. I think we're all lucky to be able to have been in the presence of asomething like that, even if it's purchasing a ticket and being an onlooker.

Showed up members of a dance community, and left as an extended family.
          Nice.
          • As the guy in the Bunny Suit, I must cross post this!

            Heyall,

First of all, that was a FANTASTIC show last night! I'm still buzzing, and not from all those Mickeys I drank either. You are certainly the best people in the whole world and I am humbled that I got a chance to be part of that magical evening!

I took up close and personal video of the first part of the show (I'll learn to bring more than one tape next time) and I'm in the process of getting it transferred to digital video right now. I would love to post individual snippets of the first act on UTube over the weekend. If anybody would like me not to do this, please let me know. I would hate to ruin anyones political career by showing them cavorting on stage at the POW. So send me a personal email and I will withhold the videos.

            Cheers,

            The Baffling Boogeroso
